1.      Note taking: Students can take notes which they found it important using Braille Notetaker for their future reference.

Reading and Studying: Braille Notetaker allows student to read and write in Braille. We can provide Braille digital textbooks, reading materials and audio books so that students can read, listen, and learn independently.

3.     Assignments: Students can write their assignments using Braille Notetaker and save it in accessible formats (docs, text), so that later they can share their work through USB or email.

 

Challenges

While Braille notetakers offer numerous benefits, there are a few challenges associated with their use:

1. High Cost and Limited Funding

• Braille Notetakers are expensive which makes visually impaired students in our country who has poor family background to afford such devices. 

2. Limited Availability and Access

• These devices may not be readily available in our local market.
• Importing such tools involves customs issues, delays, and at the same time possible maintenance problems due to lack of service centers in our country.

3. Lack of Training and Technical Support

• Teachers and students may not be trained to use Braille Notetakers effectively in their institutes. We have limited Special Education Needs (SEN) specialist in our country. So, teachers also need separate trainings to teach their students how to use such tools.
• Technical support or repair services are scarce in our country which may affect the learning progress.

4. Language and Localization Barriers

• Most Braille Notetakers are designed for English or other widely spoken languages.
• Lack of support for our own language Dzongkha in braille format or text-to-speech features can limit usability.

 

5. Electricity and Internet Issues

• In rural areas, irregular power supply may hinder charging of electronic devices.
• Some Braille Notetakers require internet access for cloud features, which may not be consistently available.

Braille notetakers are powerful tools that play a pivotal role in supporting visually impaired students. By providing access to digital resources, fostering independence, and enabling effective communication, these devices are helping to create an inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
